Tuesday. St David's Day

No wonder I've been distracted lately and in a Welsh frame of mind.  Cymru am byth!
It is a week since Steve and I drove north to Devil's Corner Vineyard.
Quite a nice table.
Pretty good views.
Spiffing company, food and wine.
There's also a viewing tower which we failed to photo from the outside.  Next time.  The architecture of this vineyard is a hot topic locally.
And you may recall that the moon was rather gorgeous last week too.

Today

We've just come back from a 'chipnic' on the cliffs above Spring Beach.  It's a silver grey day and the waves were just as I like them, deep swells and then the breaking that makes the sound that goes to your core, like a didjeridoo, and somehow replenishes.  Coming back to our little house just big enough for two, I wondered if my grandparents in Wales felt like this when they had their new cottage in Nodfa Dewi.  And when Grandpa sat at 'his' table in the window bay at The City, did he feel totally replete.

We've got a horse

in the paddock across the road.

Hopefully he won't get a taste for the quinces.
In our garden
I've allowed some artichokes to flower.
I'm cossetting my five remaining Cox's Orange Pippins.  Sometimes one will mysteriously disappear overnight.

Happy Birthday CKB

Love Retrospective

Here's some photos I haven't got around to blogging. Firstly Government House where I did a 'Behind the Scenes' Tour on Steve's birthday (so he does get a mention).

Next recent exhibitions by  members of The Spring Bay Studio (some of whom are shy).

And finally from The Festival of Voices held on a cold, rainy night at The Bushland Community Gardens:
heart warming lanterns made, ignited and set free in the bush by our local fire service.

Master Class

About 50 years ago when I was in the first days / weeks of High School, a teacher called Mrs Masters came into the class bearing our exercise books.  She went through some selected ones and then asked 'Who is Margaret?'.  I put up my hand, maybe stood up. 'When you look at Margaret you can understand why her work is so untidy,' she said
I always think of this when I look at the trees against our front wall.
Guess which one is my favourite.

Little Dr Sis has gone up the rainbow

Little Sis died yesterday in her favourite part of the garden.  She was the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever known.  Her only folly was a bit of sly scavenging, possibly foraging, after the vet put her on a diet.  I think that shows initiative.  She will remain the Perpetual Pup.

Birthdays week

February marks the beginning of the run of birthdays through to March.  I feel I've been the recipient of gifts lately.  I now have yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays, Zumba on Tuesdays, Walking Group on Thursdays and gym on Fridays.  My dance card is full.  Here's a little present I bought for myself at the local craft shop:
Blackbirds, seed heads and pink.  How could I resist?  It's a doorstop by the way.
Yesterday I went to this delightful event:
My good friend Miss Green Bean invited me.  Some of her work is shown on the invitation. I whiled away the time to 4pm booking my Easter travel and exploring beaches, including this little path at Long Beach, Sandy Bay.
Earlier in the week Steve and I checked out Cressy Beach between Swansea and Triabunna after The Rains.
